Privacy & website analytics

We use first-party analytics to understand which almanac pages readers enjoy, how they find the website, and which book-retailer links they follow.

What is measured

Public page visits, approximate country supplied by our hosting provider, browser and device category, referring website hostname, campaign labels, time a page is visible, scroll depth, and clicks on Amazon or Ingram book links. Retailer clicks do not tell us whether a purchase was made.

Random identifiers stored in your browser distinguish repeat browsers and visits. The visitor identifier expires after 90 days; a visit expires after 30 minutes of inactivity and is separate per browser tab. These identifiers are not linked to your name, email, or administrator account. Analytics does not store your IP address, full browser user-agent, full referring URL, or arbitrary query strings. The server briefly uses a one-way, minute-specific IP hash to limit abusive requests; these rate-limit records expire after two minutes and are removed on subsequent traffic.

Your choices

Analytics is skipped when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, blocks required storage, or when you opt out below. Opting out applies to this browser and immediately removes its analytics identifiers. Clearing browser storage also clears the opt-out preference.

Storage and access

Analytics is stored in this website’s database and is available only to authorized administrators. Records older than 90 days are removed as new traffic arrives. Hosting and authentication providers may separately process technical request data to operate and secure the site. Administrative sign-in uses separate, essential authentication cookies.

External retailer sites have their own privacy practices. We do not send them these analytics identifiers.
